Reservoir
Reservoir is a bold reimagining of the boutique cinema experience, located in the dynamic urban district of Carlsberg Byen in Copenhagen. More than just a place to watch films, Reservoir Cinema is a social and cultural destination where design, hospitality, and storytelling come together in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior design is a sophisticated blend of industrial honesty and curated comfort. Exposed concrete ceilings, visible piping, and raw materials speak to the historic industrial character of Carlsberg Byen, while plush, sculptural furniture and rich textiles in hues of burgundy, olive green, soft grey, and burnt orange add a tactile warmth to the space.
A key feature is the multi-functional lounge and bar area, which transitions seamlessly from daytime café to evening cocktail bar. Deep green, glossy tiles and a sculptural yellow ceiling installation create a striking visual identity for the bar, complemented by curated artworks and ambient lighting. The overall palette combines Nordic restraint with international flair, echoing the eclectic taste of a modern, design-conscious audience.
Large windows, adorned with golden drapes, allow daylight to flood the interiors while offering glimpses of the vibrant neighborhood outside. In the lounge, modular seating, a custom shelving display with curated objects, and a color-blocked glass wall set the tone for informal gatherings, pre-film drinks, or quiet moments of reflection.
Reservoir is designed not only to elevate the cinema-going experience but to serve as a cultural anchor for Carlsberg Byen—a place where architecture, design, and storytelling converge in a carefully orchestrated environment.
