In the old town of Carlsberg where the earthy scent of beer brewing still lingers a new Aamanns restaurant and bakery opened its the doors creating a buzz in the newly developed area. Aptly named Genbo referring to the neighbouring residential buildings that now a new favourite hang out spot.
The style of the Aamanns Genbo is inspired by the eclectic and unique atmosphere that is present in every neighbourhood of every city around the world. We have strived to obtain a material and colour swatch of the new area in Copenhagen in the industrial surroundings of the old Carlsberg Brewery site. The raw steel, red brick buildings, beautiful architecture and small green gems are to be found in our interior design. The restaurant and bakery are kept in the same colouring, however the bakery is designed for the quick shop and stop with high seating and open service windows to the kitchen. Whereas the restaurant is designed for lengthy comfortable meals in the large open space with a small corner bar.
Vintage pieces are a a joint passion within our team therefore we incorporate these whenever the project allows it. We wanted to find a bulky wooden structure makes you feel safe and creates a certain kind of calmness to the dining experience. Our choice landed on the the Daumiller armchair which is a perfect example of what Danish design also can be. The chair was originally produced in pine and with its stocky and almost brutalist design it is a statement in itself. It marks a near forgotten era of pine furniture. We find it to be as Danish as can be and is a perfect match to the industrial and colourful interior. After working closely with the Aamanns team for several years we have learned to use Aamanns´ pure and honest approach to ingredients, and food in general in our design process also. We aimed to use carefully selected and high quality materials in the interior design. In the same manner as Aamanns go about choosing their ingredients for their courses.
