Mamemi 2
The Mamemi resturant in Copenhagen expanded to the ajoining space and we looked to tying together the old design with the new space whilst modernising.
The restaurant’s design reads as a refined blend of modern minimalism and warm, tactile charm. Clean lines and a restrained color palette—soft neutrals punctuated by deep wood tones and matte black metal—create a calm, contemporary backdrop that keeps focus on the dining experience. Natural materials play a leading role: wide-plank hardwood floors, exposed-brick or plaster walls, and stone or concrete surfaces add texture and an earthy warmth. Lighting is intentionally layered and sculptural, with pendant fixtures and recessed accents casting pools of warm light over tables to foster intimacy without feeling dim.
Seating mixes banquettes upholstered in muted fabrics with slim-profile chairs and communal tables, offering a flexible rhythm between private meals and livelier gatherings. Thoughtful spatial planning leaves generous circulation and sightlines, while curated greenery and simple art soften the geometry and add a lived-in touch. Overall, the design balances function and atmosphere—understated elegance that feels both approachable and composed, setting a welcoming stage for the food.
